Defense Academics’ Director of Training, Marshall Smith is a retired Nassau County Police Officer with over 25 years on that department. While a member of the Nassau County Police Department he was a N.Y.S. Certified Police Instructor and a N.Y.S. Certified Field Training Officer. He served in a precinct as a sector car operator, in Highway Patrol in the DUI Enforcement Unit and four months in the Detective Division as an investigator. Marshall also instructed at the Nassau County Police Academy, and with the N.Y. City & Suffolk County Police Departments. He has also lectured to several non-law enforcement groups on behalf of the Nassau County Police Department.
While a member of the U.S. Army Reserve, he set up the unit’s training program for which he received the Army Achievement Award.
Marshall has been in the security industry for the last 14 years. Marshall has been a security officer both unarmed and armed, patrol supervisor, shift supervisor, site supervisor, training officer and an operations supervisor. While working in the security field, he has received awards for Officer of the Month, Leadership Award and Employee of the Year. He has trained any number of officers both on sites and at Defense Academics. Marshall is a Florida Certified Security Officer Instructor and Firearms Instructor. He is also a NRA Certified Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor.
Marshall holds the following licenses in the State of Florida: D, C, G, DI and K Licenses.
